My God, How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will this darkness triumph over me? Look on me and answer, Lord my God! Give light to my eyes or I will sleep in death!
I must remind myself that,
Even if I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to You; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to You. You, Lord, are my lamp; You turn my darkness into light.
You, my God, are my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? You are the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? You wrap yourself in light like a cloak. You are like the light of dawn on a cloudless morning, like the brightness after rain that brings grass from the earth.
Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, You my Lord will be my light.
(2 Samuel 22:29, 2 Samuel 23:4, Psalm 12:2-3, Psalm 27:1, Psalm 104:2, Psalm 139:11-12, Micah 7:8)
And then God said to me, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness.
He said to me, “You are a child of the light and a child of the day. You do not belong to the night or to the darkness. I will lead you in your blindness by ways you have not known, along the unfamiliar paths I will guide you; I will turn the darkness into light before you and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake you. Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more. I the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end.
You will surely forget your trouble, recalling it only as waters gone by. Life will be brighter than noonday, and darkness will become like morning. You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety. Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and My glory will be your rear guard.
Now, arise! Shine, for your light has come! My glory rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but My presence rises upon you and My glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
I have a chosen you to be a royal priestess, My special possession. That you may declare the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a light for those who do not know Me, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.
I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in Me should stay in darkness.”
(Genesis 1:3, Job 11:16-18, Isaiah 58:8, Isaiah 60:1-3, Isaiah 42:6-7;16, Isaiah 60:20, John 8:12, John 12:46, 1 Thessalonians 5:5, 1 Peter 2:9)
And now, this is the message I have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light!
In Him there is no darkness at all! I am writing you the truth I have seen in Him, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.
He is bringing me out of darkness and breaking away my chains. I give thanks to the Lord, my God for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for mankind. I have been walking in darkness and have seen a great light; I have been living in the land of deep darkness and a light has dawned. In Him is life, and that life is the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Blessed are those who learn to praise Him, who walk in the light of His presence.
